From a young age, Nichole has had a penchant for the esoteric and for the well-being of others. Her wavy gravy, moody woody, whirly twirly path really started to take root, though, just after graduating with a BFA in Ceramics, when she was arranging 5 person parades and art shows at the local farmer’s market, seeking her own spiritual truths, and creating pottery from a heart led place. During this time she learned about the world of doulas. This little seed took almost 10 years to sprout, but when it finally did all of her other pursuits fell into place. These pages contain the garden that Nichole now tends.
A third generation Mexican – American, Nichole calls Edgewater, Chicago her home, but knows in her heart that so are the crashing waves of California’s coast and the arid mountains of Spain.
Nichole and her partner welcomed their sweetly wild son on a pleasant summer evening in July of 2016 with the help of birthing center midwives & nurses, a Chicago Volunteer Birth Doula, and Nichole’s own mama. Stuff got real in that room, but also inescapably liminal. Through her journey over the bridge into motherhood Nichole observed the need for ritual during the childbearing year. Nichole’s own birth experiences are what water these wandering seeds.
Responsibly and respectfully using earth based spiritual practices Nichole has been creating sacred space in solitude and with groups for the last 15 years. Her journey has illuminated the fact that cultivating and nurturing a spiritual practice encourages vitally important personal growth and balance.
